The only PDO cheese from Friuli Venezia Giulia, it takes its name from Mount Montasio.
Naturally lactose-free, it is highly appreciated for its versatility, it can easily be used on a cutting board or in the kitchen because it combines very easily.
In a clever mix of its different ages, it is the main ingredient of the regional Friulian dish: frico.
When freshly aged, which lasts from 2 to 4 months, its structure is very elastic, the aromas are those of fresh milk, and the flavor is sweet and delicate.
It pairs very well with fresh fruit, but also with light jams or preserves.
NATURALLY LACTOSE-FREE. Contains galactose.
