The only PDO cheese from Friuli Venezia Giulia, it takes its name from Mount Montasio.
Naturally lactose-free, it is highly appreciated for its versatility, it can easily be used on a cutting board or in the kitchen because it combines very easily.
In a clever mix of its different ages, it is the main ingredient of the regional Friulian dish: frico.
During the medium maturation period, which lasts from 4 to 10 months, its structure remains elastic, the aromas are those of cooked milk, with notes of butter, and the flavour is sweet, of medium intensity.
Recommended on a cold cuts and cheese platter.
